An Android phone showing a Midnight Dash story stage on a rainy night road.

You get one road, three lanes and a car that will not slow down. Everything else — the barriers, the crystal blocks, the boost pads, the weather — arrives at you in the dark and you have about half a second to decide.

It is built to be picked up. No account, no tutorial, no five-minute intro. Open it, tap, and you are driving. Put your phone away mid-run and the road is still there when you come back.

The game stays free permanently — no advertising, no in-app purchases, no subscription. Updates keep coming because that is the point of it.

The reel

One unedited run, recorded on a Samsung S26 Ultra.

Three ways to drive

Endless, or with a reason.

The Midnight Dash main menu, with Free Ride, Story, Daily and Garage.

Endless

Free Ride

The one that never stops. One road, three lanes, and a score that only goes up while you are still on the tarmac. Pick your car, your world and your trail colour in the garage first, then drive until you do not.

The Story screen in Midnight Dash, with three cars and their stage progress.

Six stages per car

Story

Nova drives for a reason. Each car has six stages, and the kilometres you cover carry over between attempts — a crash costs you nothing but the run you were on. Finish a car's story and the next car opens.

The Goals screen in Midnight Dash, with weekly targets, trail unlocks and recent daily runs.

One attempt a day

Daily Run

One seeded track a day, the same road for everyone, with a modifier on it — fog, turbo or plain. You get one honest attempt, and the world changes under you as you drive, all the way down to the water.

The story

Nova took something, and the city noticed.

Story mode is not a separate game — it is the same road, cut into stages with a reason to be on it. Three cars, six stages each, and a line of text between them.

The kilometres you drive count towards the stage whether you finish the run or not, so the story moves forward even on a bad night. Play a car's story out and the next one is yours.

Six worlds

The road changes under you.

Each world has its own weather, its own obstacles and its own way of hiding them. Pick one in the garage, or let a Daily Run take you through all six.

Neon Forest

Rain on the windshield, pines flicking past the guard rails. Where every run begins.

Desert Rally

Purple lightning over a canyon of rust. Obelisks mark the lanes; sand cuts the visibility.

Enchanted

Overgrown ruins lit from below. The barriers here are fallen logs, and they sit low.

Snowline

A whiteout at full speed. Ice blocks where the shoulder used to be.

Aurora

Northern lights over black water, crystal fields on both sides of the road.

Deep

Below the waterline, between the coral. The last stop on a daily run.

The garage

Three cars, three ways to lose.

They differ in top speed, grip and how much room they give you to change your mind. The garage is a loadout, not a shop — a car, a world and a trail colour, none of it for sale.

Midnight

The one you start with. Predictable grip and a top speed you can still read the road at.

The Rally truck from Midnight Dash, seen from behind with red tail lights. Grip

Rally

Heavy, stubborn, slow off the line — and the one that holds its lane when the sand comes in.

The Hyper car from Midnight Dash, seen from behind with cyan light bars lit. Speed

Hyper

The fastest thing in the garage and the least forgiving. Brilliant on a straight, awful in a whiteout.

What is in the build

Eight things, and then it is finished.

01

One thumb

Tap the left or right half of the screen to change lane. That is the entire control scheme, and it does not grow later.

02

One mistake ends it

Hit a barrier and the run is over. A blue capsule buys you a shield, and that shield is worth exactly one collision.

03

Things to grab

Crystal blocks for bonus points, a pink capsule that fires lasers and vaporises the barriers ahead, and orange pads worth 2.6 seconds of extra speed at double points.

04

Combo, not caution

Near-misses and crystal chains stack the score. Drive safely and you will never beat your own best.

05

Weather and a bend

Rain, sand and snow per world, on a road that curves — so the lane you memorised keeps moving. And it speeds up the longer you last.

06

Goals worth chasing

A weekly distance target, a run streak, and seven trail colours behind them. Nothing is for sale; everything is driven for.

07

A score that writes itself

The synthwave soundtrack is generated as you drive, so it never loops back on itself the same way.

08

Yours, offline

No account, no sign-in, no network call. High scores, progress and settings stay on your phone and nothing leaves it.

Questions

The things people ask first.

When does Midnight Dash come out?

It is in final testing. The Android release is coming soon and there is no store link yet, because the build is not on Google Play.

What does Midnight Dash cost?

Nothing. It is free permanently, with no advertising, no in-app purchases and no subscription.

What can you play in it?

Three modes: Free Ride, which is endless; Story, which is six stages per car with Nova driving them; and a Daily Run, one seeded track a day with a modifier on it.

How do the cars unlock?

By playing. Finishing a car's six-stage story opens the next car. There is nothing to buy and no way to pay for one.

How many worlds are there?

Six: Neon Forest, Desert Rally, Enchanted, Snowline, Aurora and Deep. You pick the one you want in the garage, and a Daily Run travels through all of them.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. There is no account and no network call at all. Your high scores, story progress and settings stay in the app storage on your own phone.

Does the game collect any data?

No. No analytics, no crash reporter, no advertising SDK. The only permission it asks for is vibration, for haptic feedback.
